9/12/2021 Do you want to be a doula? Choices! Why doula work is so important? Well, being a doula means helping mothers!! A doula means "servant" in Greek. A servant to help other mothers is important in these "covid" times. Working as a post-partum or post-natal doula is best idea for other mothers! Why: Less restrictions placed on you for working and helping moms. (Don't have to put up with hospital policies). Mothers still need help after the birth of their baby - maybe even more so. More mothers suffering from postpartum depression - you can help by taking off the "pressure" or "stress." Offering loving services as a postpartum doula. Some postpartum doulas can make up to $25 an hour depending on location! What does a postpartum doula do? Anyway? * She can do laundry for the baby and mom * She can cook a meal that will help feed mother (though it may include the family). * She can help with pantry building and cleanout of old stuff. * She can go grocery shopping for the family (finances will have to be arranged) or she can pick up an order already made. *She can help with baby care while mom gets rest - this should be only for mom's rest time. *She can train mom on baby care if she is ignorant on how to do things. *She can help mom learn about breastfeeding - if she has issues - suggest a lactation specialist for her to go too. (Note: Some postpartum doulas go on to train and learn about breastfeeding more in depth). Etc...lots more!! So, hiring a postpartum doula is important to help mothers in their 6 weeks after birth time! (or longer!) However, I have to stop and give thought to moms who need this help and are lower income - should not they be allowed to have a post-natal/postpartum doula as well? Yes, of course!! So, here are two ideas on offering services to lower income mothers: 1. Offer a sliding scale - you go by their income level and see what they can afford. Let's say they can afford $15 an hour - that's not bad and if you can get a friend or hubby to watch any of your kids for free - then you are still making a profit by serving mothers - or see if the mom doesn't mind a couple of kids coming over! 2. Partner with another organization - you say - I need this $25 an hour in order to make my ends meet - however, if you can sponsor this person, then it can work! So the organization would need to have some funds to offer to help pay your fee or something like that - I am sure there is someone out there who may want to help - it could be a non-profit group who wants to make a donation to someone, a hospital looking for extending things outside the regular realm, a church (not necessarily Catholic - could be Protestant) may sponsor you, etc. Reach out and see what you can get done that way. 3. Another idea - fundraisers to get this mother the postpartum doula services! 4. Another idea - offer a flat rate for helping the mother over a certain number of hours or days - this might work out better esp. if going by days. She may decide she doesn't need you on a certain day after all, then you still get paid (esp. if an organization is helping with the postpartum fees). So, think of a flat rate that is acceptable to you over number of days as an alternative way to get paid. Anyway, so whether you do a sliding scale or not - how do you get trained to become a postpartum doula? First of all there is Catholic Doula Program - their trainings are online - sometimes they have a live class or self-pace. Check out the program's website: http://www.catholicdoula.com/postpartum.html If you are non-Catholic, we recommend this site for a postpartum doula class: https://kitchendoula.weebly.com/postnatalnutrition.html Ok, hope you consider becoming a postpartum doula!! 9/5/2021 Our Lady's 7 Sorrows & MoreFather Bourmaud dies after 40 years as a priest...One of our favorite priests died this week - Father Bourmaud Society of St. Pius X priest died on First Saturday early morning. Please pray for his soul! The month of September is the Month of Our Lady of Sorrows. So, I thought I would post a few resources - well at least 2 links to some devotions to Our Lady of Sorrows. This first link is to one way to pray the 7 Sorrows Rosary: https://www.immaculee.com/pages/7-sorrows-rosary-prayerwww.immaculee.com/pages/7-sorrows-rosary-prayer The second one is from Sensum Fidelium website about Our Lady of Sorrows Rosary as well with some small meditations: https://sensusfidelium.us/meditations/st-alphonsus/glories-of-mary-st-alphonsus/little-rosary-of-the-seven-dolors-of-mary-st-alphonsus/ If you are interested in Bereavement doula work, there is a course by Catholic Doula Program that offers Bereavement and helping mothers with miscarriage, stillbirth, and loss - this course is based on Our Lady's Seven Sorrows. In fact you receive the title of "Certified Sorrowful Doula" when finished! Go here to get more information on the course: www.catholicdoula.com/bereavement-updated.html (By the way I don't know why my Chrome is saying unsafe - we added in the new Trust Site thing to our website - if you prefer to pay for a class via PayPal or email invoice just ask us to send that information to you). Anyway, we hope and pray you will enjoy reading this information and become better devoted to Our Lady of Sorrows. Amen! The Consoling Sisters of the Sacred Heart are a group of religious women who work and live in Italy and India. The vocations come from USA. This particular group is under the SSPX with their own "congregation" or rules of their order. The order was founded back in 1962. I know I never heard of them till recently either! This is their website: www.consolingsisters.org/
The month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in June -the Sisters accepted new Sisters into their order. (See picture of their names below - borrowed picture from their website). Please pray for perseverance of these new novices in their vocations as Sisters. This particular order is not a contemplative order - though they do have a "contemplative spirit" - they work with children, schools, catechism, helping an orphanage in India, etc. On this page of their website - they have a video that explains more about what they do: https://www.consolingsisters.org/who-we-are.html The Sisters also sent me a longer document about their history. So, if you want that document, please ask and I'll send it to you. Right now, I am in communication with them (The Consoling Sisters) and hoping to start up an Auxiliary group. Auxiliaries are common among religious - they offer support in prayer and are almost like being a third order member - but not quite - so one could still join a "real third order" and still belong to an auxiliary. The auxiliaries would offer daily prayers and/or weekly prayers specifically for the Sisters and their mission. They would also be part of an Honor Guard - where one offers prayers or work/action during a specific time of day (either daily or weekly). These prayers and works are good to help unite ourselves with reparation to Jesus' Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Anyway, since the auxiliary idea is not finalized yet - just pray for this and perhaps we can get it started. For now, I ask for prayers that if it is God's will for this to start up - I would like to be kind of founding member and help it get started locally. OK, That's all for this blog post. God Bless. A place to pray online...I thought that it was nice to find a place to make an adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrament online - however, this may not be available 24/7 - as this is in Singapore on Australia time (or that's what it looks like) - so, enter when you like - but I was on earlier today and it was not there till later in the afternoon/evening. So, this prayer place is from the Flame of Love Website: https://flameoflove.us/perpetual-vigil-room/ So, you click in there to find a link that will let you enter the room. This is a good place to just go to even for a minute or two to pray to Jesus and adore Him and ask Him for help. I had been "attempting" meditation - I find it easier if in front of the Blessed Sacrament - so walla! Online meditation in front of the Blessed Sacrament - that is just awesome. There are probably other places on YouTube, etc. that may also offer similar things. If you know of a place, please drop the information in comments. Motu proprio “Traditionis custodes” and Five First SaturdaysThere are reactions across the world about what Pope Francis has put out his new document on "Traditionis custodes" (link to original document). We at this blog hold the position of the SSPX - so you can read that reaction from the superior general here: https://fsspx.news/en/news-events/news/letter-father-pagliarani-about-motu-proprio-%E2%80%9Ctraditionis-custodes%E2%80%9D-67623 One thing we can consider doing in order to offer reparation for this "attack" on the Latin Mass is to pray the Rosary and offer the Five First Saturdays in honor of Our Lady of Fatima's request! Here's something from the Fatima Center about the apparitions - this is Our Lady appearing to Lucia as a nun - few years after the Fatima apparitions; In the third of Her six apparitions at Fatima, Portugal in 1917, Our Lady promised to return to make a special request for the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays. Eight years later, on December 10th, 1925, the eldest and only surviving visionary, Lucia dos Santos, was an eighteen-year-old postulant in a Dorothean convent in Pontevedra, Spain. Having returned to her cell that evening after supper, she suddenly saw Our Lady standing close by her, in the presence also of the Child Jesus, Who was standing on a little cloud. At first Our Lady did not say anything. It was as if She could not speak, being overwhelmed with sorrow. She held Her Immaculate Heart in Her hand for Lucia to see, pierced all around by terrible thorns, and She placed Her other hand on Lucia’s shoulder, as if to communicate a most familiar and loving appeal. It seems almost as if, in anguish, She sought to lean for support on Lucy’s shoulder. The Child Jesus spoke first, imploring: “Have compassion on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother, covered with thorns, with which ungrateful men pierce It at every moment, and there is no one to make an act of reparation to remove them.” Then Our Lady added: “Look, My daughter, at My Heart, surrounded with thorns with which ungrateful men pierce Me at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. Do you, at least, try to console Me, and announce in My name that I promise to assist at the moment of death, with all the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months shall [1.] confess, [2.] receive Holy Communion, [3.] recite five decades of the Rosary, and [4.] keep Me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to Me.” Source: https://fatima.org/first-saturday-devotion/ So, Our Lady of Fatima asks us to pray the Rosary and offer sacrifices for 5 First Saturdays in order to fulfill her desire for reparation to Her Immaculate Heart. So, why Five? “My daughter, the reason is simple. There are five types of offenses and blasphemies committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary:
God Bless.... About the new saints - St. Zélie and St. LouisSometimes prayers work when we least expect it! Well, St. Zélie has been one of those saints like that for me - "boom" a prayer is answered - even though it had been awhile since I had done a novena, etc. She's a great saint to get to know - plus her husband Louis is also great. So, who are we talking about here? The parents of St. Therese! That's who!! I thought I would do a little biography of this saintly couple. First of all, Louis had wanted to become a priest - he thought that was his vocation, but for whatever reason - he kind of got turned down to enter the seminary. So, he was praying to find the right holy woman to marry! Louis was also a watchmaker! Well, enter Zélie - she is a shy young woman who knows how to make lace. She was also considering a vocation to be a nun - but maybe the draw was a not for sure - she was also wanting to know God's will. These two meet up on a bridge (meeting date July 13, 1858)! They just happened to be passing by each other on a bridge and they started talking, etc. Mr. Louis courts Zélie and proposes marriage after a bit! So, it seems like a match made in heaven - they get married! By the way Louis was around age 34 and Zélie around age of 26. Back then she probably was almost an old maid! So, the following 15 years - she bore nine children - seven girls and two boys! However, tradegy struck as her little Helene died at age 5 and two baby boys died after birth. Quote: Zélie remembered: "When I closed the eyes of my dear little children and buried them, I felt sorrow through and through...People said to me, 'It would have been better never to have had them.' I couldn't stand such language. My children were not lost forever; life is short and full of miseries, and we shall find our little ones again up above." (Source 1). When St. Therese was born: The Martins' last child was born January 2, 1873. She was weak and frail, and doctors feared for the infant's life. The family, so used to death, was preparing for yet another blow. Zelie wrote of her three month old girl: "I have no hope of saving her. The poor little thing suffers horribly....It breaks your heart to see her." But the baby girl proved to be much tougher than anyone realized. She survived the illness. A year later she was a "big baby, browned by the sun." "The baby," Zelie noted, "is full of life, giggles a lot, and is sheer joy to everyone." (Source 1). More about life of St. Therese and St. Zelie: Therese was, she wrote, "incredibly stubborn. When she has said 'no', nothing will make her change her mind. One could put her in the cellar for the whole day." Therese's candor appeared early and was unusual. The little one would run to her mother and confess: "Mama, I hit Celine (her sister) once-but I won't do it again." (Source 2). Choosing all and St. Zelie's death: At the age of twelve, Therese's sister Leonie felt she had no further use for her doll dressmaking kit, and stuffed a basket full of materials for making new dresses. Leonie then offered it to her six year old sister, Celine, and her two year old sister, Therese. "Choose what you wish, little sisters," invited Leonie. Celine took a little ball of wool that pleased her. Therese simply said, "I choose all." She accepted the basket and all its goods without ceremony. This incident revealed Therese's attitude toward life. She never did anything by halves; for her it was always all or nothing. On Sundays, Louis and Zelie Martin would take their daughters on walks. Therese loved the wide open spaces and the beauty of the countryside about Alencon. Frequently, the walks tired little Therese. This would result in "Papa" Martin carrying his daughter home in his arms. Unfortunately, the pleasant family times would soon come to an end. The shadow of death that had previously occupied the Martin household, once more relentlessly returned. Therese's mother, Zelie (after an illness of twelve years), died of breast cancer in August, 1877. Therese was only four years old at the time. -Source 2 More about St. Louis St. Therese's Father loved his "Little Queen" as he often called her as a youth. When their mother died, they left Alecon and moved to Lisieux into a big house that suited the whole family and their cousins were nearby - plus Uncle and Aunt. St. Therese traveled to Rome with her father to obtain permission to enter Carmel earlier - but this permission didn't come during the trip. The Pope told her "she would enter if God's will." When they got home, she was a bit devastated - but the Superior had a change of heart and did allow her to enter at the age of 15. Louis' health began to decline in his older age. He had some dementia. In fact St. Therese had a vision of him in the garden with his face covered and in like a wheel chair. This was God's permonition of his coming death. She was able to be professed as a Carmelite before his death. Then St. Louis died on July 29, 1894. Since St. Therese's parents were the first ever saints to be canonized together - the Vatican thought it would be appropriate for them to share a feast day - so the Vatican declared their feast day to be July 12! (I am not sure why they picked that date - seems like the 29th of July would have been a better choice for St. Louis' death or August 28th for St. Zélie's death - but I would suggest praying to them on all 3 dates!!) Their canonization date was October 18, 2015. (Source 3). This little article is about doulas and dads! Father's day is around the corner and we wanted to offer some thoughts about doulas working with dads! I have heard this objection before when hiring a doula - well, my husband is going to just do the work as a doula - I don't need one! Sorry, but YES you need a doula even more - so how does a doula help dads? *A doula can give dad a break - maybe he's had a hard day at the office and his wife just went into labor - he's frantic and by the time they get to the hospital - he needs a nap! Well, a doula can let him take that little nap and wake him when the mom is ready to push baby out (if he likes!) *A doula can help the dad participate better. Dad may feel clueless on what to do - the doula can direct dad on how to help: get mom some ice chips, hold her hand, work with rebozo, help support her or hold her up, help her with pushing stage, etc. *A doula can just help dad feel more confident in his role - if he wants to do more of the work - the doula can be there as a director of an orchestra - she is supporting him doing the work and he will feel more confident in his role as the support person. *A doula can give dad mini-breaks throughout the labor process. *A doula can give dad the feeling of helping mom since he may feel so helpless while she feels all the "pain of labor". *A doula can help mom and dad work together if doing hypnobirthing for instance. Want to watch some fun "Dad Lab" videos? Go here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bes9J3lfrY0 If you want to hire a doula for your birth - then we also have a location to go to for that: http://findacatholicdoula.weebly.com - we are also working on a Pro-Life Doula Association site that will list midwives as well! 5/23/2021 The Seven Gifts of the Holy GhostPart One: Gift of Fear of the LordThe Gifts of the Holy Ghost (Spirit) are given to us from God and they come esp. during the ceremony of Confirmation. I was able to have one of our children confirmed this year. The ceremony was wonderful and the Bishop was very great. He gave a very long "sermon" before the confirmation! Each child at confirmation also receives a new name at confirmation. So, there are seven gifts of the Holy Ghost, I thought it would be nice to offer information of the seven gifts. The gifts are: Gift of Fear of the Lord, Gift of Piety, Gift of Knowledge, Gift of Fortitude, Gift of Understanding, and Gift of Wisdom. Each gift has a special grace so to speak with it. Each gift helps us reach heaven better. So, in this installment - I want to talk about the Gift of Fear of the Lord. Some of this is from what I teach at the Catholic Doula Program: •In Bishop Farrell’s Blog, he talks about the Gift of Fear as being a way to “rejoice” with God. It is not “fearing God” in the sense that God is mean or an angry God. See link: http://bishopkevinfarrell.org/2013/03/the-gift-of-fear-of-the-lord •Instead the “Gift of Fear” asks us to trust in Him more and also gives us the graces to avoid offending him. Father Hardon notes, "The fear of the Lord is not servile but filial." In other words, it is not a fear of punishment, but a desire not to offend God. Hope is the virtue that goes with this Gift of Fear. Christ is also the vine: •The Bible states that “He who finds wisdom is great indeed, but not greater than he who fears the LORD. Fear of the LORD surpasses all else. Its possessor is beyond compare.” (Sir 25:10-11) and “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.”(Ps 111:10). "The crown of the elderly, wide experience; their glory, the fear of the Lord.“ (Sir 25:6) •"I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and everyone that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit. You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you. Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me will be thrown out like a branch and wither; people will gather them and throw them into a fire and they will be burned.“ John 15: 1-6 Why is the Gift of Fear of the Lord important? First of all, we don't want to lose our friendship with God - that is committing a mortal sin. When we commit a mortal sin, we are no longer friends with God. Wow! I think a lot of you probably don't think of this. So, we must aim at not committing a mortal sin and be like St. Dominic Savio "Death but not sin". Second, Though we do not want to be "fearful of God" per se - we should be afraid to offend him. One way to stop offending God or things that might help is avoiding "occasions of sin." Well, someone might now days may not understand - what does that mean? An occasion of sin, could be like a bad movie or even some "good movies" these days. There are sometimes impurity or bad things that the movie producers like to sneak into a movie - so that is why it would be better not to watch something then to have "occasion of sin." Third, we should also "love God" more with this Gift of Fear of the Lord. Bishop Farrell told us to "rejoice" in God. We should bring that "joy" of God's love to others. So, this is part of the gift's "blessings" on our soul to bring the gift of joy and God's love to our family and people we deal with everyday. Ok, so I hope this helps you understand this little gift a little better. I will be adding to the series as I have time - I may do a different thought in my next blog - but anyway, hope you enjoy this post! 5/22/2021 Our Lady of Mt. CarmelThe Call to Carmel Part A...by Rose HillThis is a first in a series about Carmelites and the vocation of being a Tertiary of Our Lady... When I was a little girl probably around age thirteen - I had wanted to be a Carmelite Nun and live a life like that. Of course, at the time, I didn't know much about nuns or convents. Later on, we started attending Latin Mass at a Carmelite Convent! So, I was able to "go to the turn" to ask for prayers and such! I even wrote to the sisters for awhile. One of my best friends "Chrissy" wanted to be a nun as well. However, our desires of youth did not quite come to pass. For myself, I didn't end up a religious nun - even despite going on a retreat where the priest suggested talking to my parish priest about a religious vocation. This retreat I took around age 26. I did go visit 2 of orders of nuns as well as go up to Canada on a special pilgrimage. During the pilgrimage, I went to St. Anne De Beaupre' Shrine and I felt that she was saying to me, "You will be a teacher!" That pilgrimage left a great impression upon my soul. However, I decided my vocation was not to be a nun after the Sisters at another convent thought I did not have such a vocation. I accepted this as God's will. So, I prayed to God to find a "soul mate" someone that could help me reach heaven or at least that is one of the ideals of Marriage and to have children to give to God. I finally found someone when I was around 35 years old. I know that was quite a few years to wait to find a "soul mate." We have been married for 13 years, so I think that is showing that we are a good match - I still consider my husband my "soulmate". We also have children! Many marriages don't even last this long - Deo Gratias we are still together. So, the question you may ask - did I become a teacher? "Yes and no". I didn't become a teacher in a regular school so to speak. I did take some teacher education in college; however, God blessed my husband and I with children and we decided to "home school" them - so I became their teacher. (Also, hubby helps!) During my college years, I also decided to take an online doula course. That is how I became a doula and childbirth educator! So, I have ended up being a teacher of sorts to mothers and parents! Anyway, I feel like I need to go back to the subject now of Carmelites. So, what is a Tertiary in an order of religious? This means one is a Third Order member - someone "secular" living in the world, but can offer themselves in a spiritual way united with this particular order. So, there are Third Order members for the following - at least this is from my research: *Third Order Dominicans *Third Order Franciscans *Third Order Carmelites *Oblates of St. Benedict (same as Third order) *Third order of Servites I also was wanting to join a more Traditional Catholic Third order - not a secular version (or Novus Ordo) just because I probably would end up not being able to conform to everything in a Novus ordo version. (Not that they don't have merit - I am sure if you are a Third order member of a N.O. you will gain alot of merit as well!) So, I did some research and found about that the SSPX has also their own third order. I thought about joining the "regular" SSPX third order. However, I did deeper research and found out they have other third orders: *Franciscan SSPX Third Order (based in California - with ties to monks in France) *Dominican SSPX Third Order (Fr. Albert a Dominican priest is head of this one) *Carmelite SSPX Third order - originally my research took me to a website in Australia! There is also I believe a third order associated with FSSP - but I don't know that much about it. So, why join a third order to begin with? First of all, to get to heaven! I feel that the ideals of a third order would help a particular person gain the graces needed to get to heaven! Second, to practice one's Faith better with more fervor and practice virtues better. Things like humility, patience, and more... Third, one also must feel called the particular spirituality of the "order" that you are choosing. For instance Franciscans have a definite distinct mission. I feel called to the Carmelites - however, I want to show various spirituality below. This is information below about Franciscan: Along with the entire Franciscan family, the spirituality of the secular Franciscan is intensely Christocentric and focused on Jesus, the second Person of the Blessed Trinity, who became one of us in the Incarnation. Franciscan spirituality is primarily focused on Christ’s Incarnation, His Passion, and His Presence in the Eucharist. For secular Franciscans, Jesus is the inspiration and center of our life with God and with people. He is the way to the Father, and the truth into which the Holy Spirit leads us. (OFS Rule, Article 4).(1 reference below). Dominican spirituality - has 4 pillars: Dominican lives are rooted in the four Dominican charisms: Prayer, Study, Community, and Service - all for the sake of Veritas (the truth of God’s mercy and love). (Reference 2 below) Carmelite Spirituality: Carmelite spirituality is meant to be experienced and not just studied. In fact, I find it the hardest to describe - but if you are familiar at all with St. Therese's writings - she said "My vocation is love." That in a nutshell is the spirituality of a Carmelite - To meditate, To give God our Love, To "pray without ceasing" is what St. Teresa of Avila says. Meditation is the core of the Carmelite spirituality; and praying the Little Office of Mary (for Third order members). The spirituality of a Carmelite is a spirituality of contemplation and seeking God above everything! St. John of the Cross writes about the Carmelite Spirituality: What is this union with God that is so fundamental to St. John of the Cross's spirituality? It is a complete dying to the old fallen self and living anew in perfect docility to God and His movements in the soul. St. John said in The Living Flame of Love, "Let it be known that what the soul calls death is all that goes to make up the old self . . . In this new life that the soul lives when it has arrived at the perfect union with God here being discussed, all the inclinations and activity of the [soul] . . . become divine. Since . . . the soul's operations are in God through its union with him, it lives the life of God." The soul in union is perfectly docile to grace, and so the soul is moved by God alone and not by its own desires or thinking. He explains, "For the soul, like a true daughter of God, is moved in all things by the Spirit of God." The will of the soul is lost in the will of God and the two become one by grace. (Reference 3 below). So, this is the call to Carmel - the longing and desired to set one's heart on fire with the love of God! In next series - we will explore the steps to becoming a Third Order Carmelite member! Some chapels will crown her on May 1st or 2nd while others mid-May or even the very last day of May. In the traditional calendar (Latin Mass), we celebrate the Crowing of the Blessed Virgin in Heaven on May 31st. So, where did these traditions come from? Well, probably mostly from tradition that goes way back. So, we don't really know the origin of this devotion. However, an event more in our times that took place in the "Americas" in Wisconsin shows us that Mary is ever watching over us - here's a tidbit from another blog in italics: The act of crowning is rooted in the view of Mary as the Queen of Heaven. The event is of particular significance as it relates to the Champion Shrine history because, when Our Lady appeared to the young Belgian immigrant woman, Adele Brise, in 1859, she identified herself as the “Queen of Heaven.” (Blog: https://walktomary.com/event/may-crowning/ By the way this is the only Marian apparition approved of in the United States so if you would like to read more about it - please go to this website: championshrine.org/the-story/ Indulgences: Pope Pius VII in 1815 granted a partial indulgence for participating in either a public or private devotion honoring Mary during the month of May; Pope Pius IX made the indulgence plenary in 1859. Also, from same source: May probably seemed most appropriate because the liturgical calendars, former and present, mark several feast days honoring our Blessed Mother: Our Lady, Queen of Apostles (the Saturday following the Ascension); Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament (May 13); Our Lady of Fatima (May 13); Mary, Help of Christians (May 24); Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces (May 31); and the Visitation (May 31) or Crowning of Mary in Latin Traditional Rite (May 31st). Source: https://catholicstraightanswers.com/what-are-the-origins-of-the-may-crowning/ Now, onto the many titles of Mary! I use to have a book about Mary and her various titles and shrines or stories related to the titles. I don't think the book survived my recent moves. Oh, well, Mary is honored under a lot of titles. I found a list - so here it is below (by the way a lot longer than the Litany of Loreto)! The items in red will have a link to go to more information! For us, this year has had its ups and downs and now I am turning to deciding on curriculum that might fit us better for the fall season. I honestly would love to interact with another instructor! So, we are considering homeschool connections course - the live version for fall. However, I would love input from others who have done any of their materials in the past? They just started a more grade level course for 3rd-6th graders which fits our family really well right now. So, if you have done either recorded or live class - let us know about your experience by emailing [email protected]! There's also the Homeschool Conference in May that is online again!! Whoo hoo! Anyway, I am not close enough to go to any in person ones (if there are any going on). So, information about this conference is below: https://catholichomeschoolconference.com/ You can signup for free or get a VIP pass where you can watch the videos long after it is over with! There is also goody bag for parents to use for discounts and free downloads! OK, well, I am not going to post much else right now - look at the website above if you want to know about the speakers, etc. One last note: I am working on a curriculum idea for teens - so if I launch this idea - I'll let everyone know on the blog!! God Bless and Good night! |
